Big Hero 6 movie review

Article by Gabe Zia

Lazy Film Critic reviews….
Big Hero 6 is the latest film from Disney animation studios is also based on the Marvel comic of the same name, the first film animated film Disney has made using Marvel (hopefully the first of many). The film stars Ryan Potter, Jamie Chung, T.J. Miller, Damon Wayans, and Genesis Rodriguez. The film follows a group of tech-savvy University students, who use their specialties and skills to become a group of super-heroes.

Usually, when going into a Disney film, something most would expect would be good characters. And not only does Big Hero 6 have good and well written characters, but memorable characters as well. The two big characters in the film are Hiro and Baymax. These two worked as the main characters of the film, they had really good chemistry, they had sort of an Iron Giant type dynamic, which was awesome. Really, the whole group had good chemistry. They were all these eccentric loner types, but each in their own way. None of the six characters in this group seemed in any real way similar to each other, and that's a big thing you remember walking out of the film, was the characters.
Now, a big draw in for me with Big Hero 6 is the fact that it's based on a Marvel comic, which is a pretty major step for Disney. And this film certainly feels like a comic book movie, it's got all the good tropes, all the things you'd want from a comic book movie. And it works as a Disney film as well, having pretty much everything you'd want from a good Disney movie. And these two things work really well together in the film, and make for an awesome movie.
The animation in Big Hero 6 is some of Disneys best in recent years. Ever since they switched from 2-D animation to CGI animation, the quality in animation has only gone up. Not just in how sharp everything looks, but just how colourful and vibrant everything in this movie looks. This also has a lot to do with the great art design behind Big Hero 6. Every character, every object, all the bits and pieces of scenery are uniquely designed and drawn to pop out of the screen at you. And, with this films really high animation quality, it all looks amazing.

Final Rating
Big Hero 6 is a really great film, I'd even say a great film. If you're a fan of Marvel movies, especially stuff like The Avengers, I'd say check it out. Also check it out if you're into Disney movies in general, you'll probably like this movie either way. If you're like me, and you're a fan of both, definitely go see Big Hero 6.

Big Hero 6: 4.5/5
