So the slog of dump month is over, with only one good movie to show for all of it, we're finally moving into February, with some interesting stuff coming out. Keep an eye out for these ones, I have a really good feeling about this month.
February 10th
John Wick Chapter Two
It's no secret that the first John Wick is right up there with Dredd and The Raid films as some of my favorite action movies of all-time. Not only did the first film deliver on really well choreographed and inventive action sequences, but actually had some really sharp character-based writing and world building. I've been looking forward to a sequel for a very long time, here's hoping it doesn't disappoint.
The Lego Batman Movie
Not even gonna lie, The Lego Batman Movie looks like the unironic best interpretation of Batman ever made. Each Batman film is progressively darker than the last one, so I think it's about damn time a movie made use of the fun and kind of wackier opportunities the character presents. It's kind of a shame it took the character being made out of Lego for a film to capitalize on the best aspect of the character, but regardless, I can't wait.
A Cure for Wellness - February 2017 Highlight
One thing I enjoy on this blog, more so than other things, is interesting and unique movies. And right around the corner of February 2017 is what looks to be one of the most deeply intriguing movies coming in 2017. It looks creepy, it looks atmospheric, it looks kind of cerebral, but best of all it looks like a visual marvel to behold. Just from watching the trailer this looks like a movie worth watching for the effort put into the visual aspects alone. A Cure for Wellness is definitely something to keep an eye out for this month.
