Best and worst of Kevin Costner

This weekend we have a slow release schedule, 3 Days to Kill starring Kevin Costner and Pompeii. And of the two of them, the one that looks the least awful is 3 Days to Kill (it still looks bad but Pompeii looks worst). But regardless of all that, I'm going to talk about the film's leading man, Kevin Costner.

Costner is a very prolific actor, he's been in tons of movies. Sure, some of them weren't great, but others have been classics. To name a few, Field of Dreams, The Untouchables, & Dances with Wolves. However, these aren't my #1 pick for him. When it comes to Kevin Costner, I gotta go with JFK.

This film has everything that makes a great mystery film great. It's filled with threads, all these dots you can't seem to connect. And as the mystery goes deeper, it actually seems like you know less and less about the story. With most mystery films it just keeps getting more and more predictable, but with this film the conspiracy just gets deeper and darker as it goes along.

Costner himself is brilliant in the film as well, showing lots of conviction and determination. It's kind of like what Jessica Chastain did in Zero Dark Thirty, only he's less angry about it, more confused. It seems like how someone would respond to something that goes as deep as this does.

For my worst film, there are surprisingly a lot of these too. I wouldn't really blame Costner for any of them, they're all just... really bad. The Bodyguard, Postman, real stinkers. However there is one film that is revered by movie critics (or just movie fans) for how bad it is. Waterworld.

This film has not one redeeming quality, not even moments that are just bad but not awful. Every single second of this film is painful. And this film doesn't even work as a guilty pleasure film, those films have to have certain things about them that make them so bad they're good. This film is just bad, plain and simple.

So that's it, the best & worst of Kevin Costner. Do you have different picks? Leave a comment below and tell me what your best & worst films of Kevin Costner are.
