Hey look at that, I saw a movie on time.
So Non-Stop is the latest Liam Neeson action film, and in this film he plays an air marshal. The basic premise of this film is that his character starts getting text messages saying every 20 minutes one passenger will die. And so it's a kind of a mystery flick, only set on an airplane. Which to be honest, sounds pretty cool. But does it live up the that premise? Actually yeah.
First off, Liam Neeson is totally badass in the role. It's not really a change from most of his recent roles, but to me Liam Neeson in an action movie just works. He's got the voice and that stern demeanour, and it certainly shows itself off in this film. As for the rest of the cast, well they're alright. They do a decent job, most of them anyway.
Now, that's not to say I don't have any problems with this movie, in fact I've got a few problems. For one, it's fairly predictable. With the exception of the identity of the killer, you can pretty much guess the events of the film, and you'd probably be right. Not to mention, this film breaks the limits of suspension of disbelief a lot, and in major ways. For me, this was fine because I'm pretty good at keeping my suspension of disbelief. However, I could totally understand if most people are put off by it.
However, this is an action movie, so I'm going to review it as an action film. And as an action film, it's pretty good. The intensity in the film seems to stay at a consistent level, there isn't a whole lot of downtime. It takes full advantage of the fact that it's on an airplane, and does a lot of neat action moments with it. And the film goes at an enjoyable pace, you can get into it. Of the action films this year so-far, it's not the best one but it's entertaining.
Final Rating
Non-Stop is a fairly entertaining flick. It's paced well and the action is fun to watch. However, if you're looking for anything but an action film here, then you may be disappointed. It follows basic cliches for these kind of films and gets a little predictable at times. The mystery of who the killer is was interesting to follow, as it kept me guessing the whole time. But if that's not your thing, this isn't a movie I'd highly recommend.
Non-Stop: 3/5
