Top 10 Good Movies that are a Bad Idea to Watch

There are just some movies out there that, no matter how great they are, or what makes them great, I just cannot honestly say you should watch. It may be due to it's disturbing imagery or nature, or for it's depressing plot. Either way, here are some great films that I really like that I can honestly say most should avoid.

10. Blue Valentine

Why you might think it's a good idea: You're looking for a good valentines day movie, or just something to watch with your girlfriend on netflix.

Why it's a bad idea: This film will ruin all hope in any sort of relationship you've ever had. If you make the horrible mistake of watching this with your significant other, you will soon not have one.


9. We Need to Talk About Kevin

Why you might think it's a good idea: You don't know the premise of this film.

Why it's a bad idea. The premise of this film is that it's about the mother of a demented teenager who shot up his high school and killed himself. Still wanna watch it?


8. Se7en

Why you might think it's a good idea: You're a fan of David Fincher or one of the actors in this movie. (Which, if the situation is the first one, then go right ahead, watch this film.)

Why it's a bad idea: This film is insanely gruesome and very gory, filled with disturbing editing and creepy ideas. This film actually makes me genuinely concerned for David Finchers well being.


7. Un Chien Andalou

(I'm going to do all of you a favour and not include a picture)

Why you might think it's a good idea: I honestly have no idea.

Why it's a bad idea: It's a french avant-garde film. Satisfied, Internet?


6. Oldboy (the original)

Why you might think it's a good idea: You liked the remake.

Why it's a bad idea: All the stuff is the same as in the remake, only way more disturbing.


5. The Shining

Why you might think it's a good idea: You want to watch a horror flick.

Why it's a bad idea: You'll get way more than just a horror flick.


4. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

Why you might think it's a good idea: Again, I got nothing. This is an indie film, the only people who really know about this movie know it's messed up.

Why it's a bad idea: IT'S F***ING MESSED UP.


3. Donnie Darko

Why you might think it's a good idea: Ooh a sci-fi flick!

Why it's a bad idea: This film will depress you for the following 24 hours after watching it.


2. A Clockwork Orange

Why you might think it's a good idea: You don't know who Stanley Kubrick is.

Why it's a bad idea. Stanley Kubricks direction will psychologically mess you up.


And the #1 good movie you probably shouldn't watch is...
Requiem for a Dream

Why you might think it's a good idea: You're movie hopping through Netflix and see an intriguing title.

Why it's a bad idea: Imagine the two qualities I've talked about the most in this article. Depression & disturbing content. This is both of those mixed perfectly. It's a dark, realistic, graphic, and shocking film about the reality of drugs. And that may sound like a good watch, but when I say shocking I mean this film doesn't skim over any details. It shows all of the things those "just say no ads" are talking about.
