Normally this is where I say "well thank god it's over", but surprisingly enough, January 2016 wasn't that bad. Sure I went to see all of one movie, but it's more movies than I saw in January 2015, so that's something. But enough about January, it's time to talk about February, which also surprisingly looks to have a decent lineup. Despite losing David Bowie and Alan Rickman, I don't think 2016 is going to be an awful year for movie fans.

Hail Caesar!
What better way to start off the month than with a movie by two of the best writers and directors ever to make film? It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the Coen brothers, so when I heard they had a new movie coming out (with one of the best ensemble casts I have ever seen, no less), needless to say I was excited.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
This is one of those movies that I'm really rooting for simply because of the premise. The idea of taking Pride and Prejudice, and putting zombies into that story seems like a really entertaining concept. Normally, I'd be reaching at arms length here, but this movie also has an added bonus of being based on a book I've heard is hilarious, so it'll probably be worth checking out.

Deadpool
I've been trying to reach at arms length with this movie, because it's one of those films that could go both ways. It could either be one of the funniest movies of the year, or a forgettable dull movie with no originality. I'm going to keep an open mind with this movie, although I am somewhat concerned.
Zoolander 2
This is another movie I've been at the same time both concerned and excited for. If Dumb & Dumber 2 and Anchorman 2 have taught us anything, it's that sequels to classic comedies don't always work. Hopefully, this film won't disappoint, and it'll manage to retain the weird charm that made the first film work so well.

The Witch
I'm not sure I'll be able to sit through this one. I'm a fan of horror, but this movie looks like it'll have some seriously disturbing imagery. Witch stuff has always kind of freaked me out, and this movie seems to be a perfect recreation of stuff that will terrify me beyond any other horror movie. Sign me up!

Gods of Egypt
Let's just get one thing out of the way. This movie looks bad. Really bad. This movie looks like one of those movies that, years from now, would be seen as a cult classic of bad movies, like Batman & Robin or The Happening. Granted, with Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City, I Robot) at the helm, there's the chance it could be decent. However, regardless of whether or not its good or remarkably bad, I'll probably end up seeing it.
Triple 9
This is a movie I've been following for years now, with a great cast and an amazing director, there's not much to not be excited about. From the trailer, it looks like a fantastic crime thriller, with some great direction and really gritty realism. This was on my top 10 to see of 2015, so even with a delay, it's still one of my most anticipated movies of the year.
Best of January 2016: ... 13 Hours?
I'm as surprised about it as you are. Granted, it was the only thing I saw this month, but I doubt if I saw anything else that would've changed anything. 13 Hours is a huge comeback for Michael Bay, and his best movie since The Rock. Hell, this may just be his best movie yet. It's got intense, well-directed action, the writing is really solid, and the actors are all fantastic. This is a major great start for 2016, and I'm glad this turned out as good as it is. If you haven't seen it yet, go check it out.
