Top 5 Pairings I want to see in True Detective season 2

So, last night, the HBO mini-series True Detective finished its first season. And this show being an anthology series (like American Horror Story), the second season won't follow the same story, have the same characters and probably a different cast. So, knowing the tone of the show and how it works, here are 5 pairings I'd like to see in season 2. I've picked them based on their films & acting style, and how well I think they could play off each other.

5. Julianne Moore & Edward Norton

Both Moore & Norton are in that grey area Woody Harrelson was in when he started True Detective. Most people saw them as good actors, but only when you started thinking about their films do you notice they're great actors. And they share a similar style of acting, so I think they could play off each other well.

4. Kate Winslet & Jake Gyllenhaal

If the writers want to go for a layout similar to season 1, this is the way to go. Both Winslet & Gyllenhaal have shown their chops with dark films, so this series would work for them. Not to mention they're both great actors.

3. Michael Fassbender & Scarlett Johansson

Michael Fassbender was a pretty normal choice, but the real risk here is Scarlett Johansson. Much like the star of season 1, Matthew Mcconaughey, she used to be known as the rom-com actress but has recently shown her chops as an actress with Her & Under the Skin. The latter of which shows her potential for dark roles, and a role on this show would do nothing but help her career grow.

2. Dane Dehaan & Miles Teller

This would be the way to go if the writers really wanted to experiment. What I had in mind when I picked these two was something like Brick, where it takes a high school setting and turns it into something much darker. Dane Dehaan has shown his ability for dark characters with The Place Beyond the Pines & Chronicle, and Miles Teller gave a great performance in The Spectacular Now.

1. Sam Rockwell & Rachel Weisz

Agree or disagree, you're probably wondering "why them?", and I could see why. Unlike Edward Norton or Michael Fassbender, these two don't have a particular set style of character. But that's exactly why they're #1. The show could go in so many directions with these two. With so many other actors, there would only be a certain amount of characters they could play, but that's not the case here. They're both such talented actors that they wouldn't be type cast at all, and could really play any role given to them. And that's why they're my #1 pick for True Detective season 2.

So, do you agree or disagree with this list? Better question, what pairing do you want to see in season 2 of True Detective? Let me know in the comments section, and be sure to check out my Twitter & Facebook pages in the links right up there at the top of the page.
