Sin City: A Dame to Kill For trailer review

So recently, the first trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was put online, and I gotta say, I'm really hyped for this film.

Incase you don't know what Sin City is, it was this incredibly stylised movie that came out back in 2005 based on a comic series that... I'll be completely honest, I haven't read the comics. But that doesn't stop me being a huge fan of the first film. And this trailer doesn't look like it's skimmed any of the things from the first film.

You've still got that comic-ish look of the first film, and the tone seems like it's still got the atmosphere that made the first one great. That's one of the things I feel most impressed by when I'm watching this trailer, it doesn't seem different from the first one. But at the same time, it doesn't seem like a re-hash. They've still got all the things that made the first one so great, but without re-hashing stuff we've seen before.

There were a couple of things in this trailer that caught my eye, so I'm going to talk about them. The first thing I'm going to talk about Joseph Gordon-Levitts role in the film.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Johnny
Now, I'm a fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but when I first heard the news Joseph Gordon-Levitt was playing one of the leads in this movie, I was skeptical. Because to me, I didn't think his acting style would work for the style of Sin City. However, fortunately, I've been proven wrong. His character seems badass, he seems dark, I feel like his character will be  fairly similar to Dwight from the first film.

Speaking of Dwight, we also get to see Josh Brolins take on Dwight.

Josh Brolin as Dwight
This was another thing I was kinda skeptical about with this movie, because in the first film Dwight was played by Clive Owen.

Clive Owen as Dwight in the first film
I really liked this character in Sin City, I thought Clive Owen was just so cool as the character. He had cool lines, he was a total badass. He had that style of sarcasm he usually has, and the style of the film played off of that really well. So to me, Josh Brolin didn't seem like he fit that character. And I'm still a little on the fence about it, even though he looks pretty cool in the trailer.

Okay, last thing I'm going to talk about is Eva Green as Ava Lord, who I think is supposed to be the villain.

Eva Green as Ava Lord
Eva Green is the only thing I wasn't remotely skeptical about, because she plays characters like these a lot, and plays them really well. She looks like she's bringing her intensity she has in some of her other films, and that's something I think is going to work really well.

Here's the trailer for Sin City a Dame to Kill For, incase you haven't already seen it.

So, what are your thoughts on the trailer? Were you a fan of the first Sin City? Let me know in the comments, I'm curious to see what fans of the comics think of the films.
